October's Contest Piece

Fall On The Westarm
5 x 7 original acrylic on masonite

Here it is folks! October's painting for the free art giveaway is a scene from my yard. We've been having such beautiful fall weather this year, warm sunny days, that I just had to paint a scene from my surroundings. I called it Fall On The Westarm because I live on the the Westarm of Lake Nipissing.

I've always loved that name, Westarm, ever since I was a kid. The name alone brings up so many wonderful memories for me. We'd spend a lot of time here camping at relatives' cottages and the Westarm always felt like home. And if I may dare mention the law of attraction, during my whole adult life, I'd always pictured myself living on the lake somewhere. In my vision, the place I'd see was always what you see depicted in this painting. To top it off, the house we bought here four years ago is the very place I'd come and spend time in the summer! I'd always wanted to live in a log home, and had always envisioned that very lake scene, and now here I am. Wow! Coincidence? I don't believe in coincidences anymore.

So there you have it. October's painting was inspired by a very special place for me. The place of my dreams, my home. I certainly hope you enjoy it and I hope whoever wins it enjoys it as much as I've enjoyed painting it. Be sure to enter, you can't win if you don't enter! To enter, email me at

Before I sign off, the winner for September's painting is M. Dubé from Québec City, QC. Congratulations!!!
