German Shepherd Portrait in Pastel

Mondo
8 x 10 pastel
Carole Rodrigue © 2018
SOLD

I am so excited that I can share this beautiful boy with you!  Mondo is such a beautiful German Shepherd and I was thrilled when I was commissioned to paint him.

The lighting in this painting is so calm and warm, and sets a beautiful soft scene.  The original photo was taken outside in evening light, which is perfect for those beautiful references.

I had started recording the process, but technical issues interrupted the recording.  I might be able to salvage the beginning.

Please be sure to check out the contact info on the right as well as other examples of pet portraits if you're interested in having your own commission!

German Shepherd Pet Portrait in Oil

Buddy, German Shepherd
16 x 20 Oil on canvas
Carole Rodrigue ©2017
SOLD

Oh boy! I'm so excited I can finally share Buddy!  He's a German Shepherd and he actually lives in Germany!  How crazy is that for a Canadian girl to send off a German Shepherd painting to Germany?

Buddy is the loyal companion of an elderly couple who love this boy very much.  I'm told they treat him like he was their child.  You can tell by his eyes that he is one very happy boy.  I can't wait to find out their reaction once they see him.  This painting is a gift so it'll be a complete surprise.  I'm also grateful they won't see it online, so it was safe to post.

I'll be working on a large cat commission soon as soon as we have the references worked out, but in the mean time, I'll be back to share another dog painting soon as well as a cat I'll be doing in pastels. I'm itching to do more pastels and will create a video with it.

Thanks for looking!

P.S.  Have a look at this other German Shepherd commission I painted a few months back, just in case you hadn't seen it.

Another Belgian Malinois Portrait Painted in Oil!

Simone, Rango, and Jesse
Belgian Malinois Portrait, Private Commission
16 x 20 oil on canvas
Carole Rodrigue ©2017
SOLD

These beauties were a private commission for a client in Texas.  They are Belgians, even though they look a bit different.  Jesse, the dog on the left, is a rescue and it's suspected that her jaw is off from having been hit by a car or something else in her previous life.  She certainly has a wonderful life now!

I can't stress how delighted I was to paint this trio.  Each is so beautiful and have such distinct personalities showing through.  It was important for me to not only capture detail, but their essence.  Painting Malinois and German Shepherds is becoming a regular request and I do not mind one bit!

I am now working on a beautiful cat for a return client.  Having clients come back to get more artwork done is the greatest compliment that my clients can give me!  I'm honoured to create these custom pet portraits from photos for my clients.  I can understand how special these paintings are to people, and I strive to give 100% every time.

My cat portrait will be posted once approved by the client, so perhaps next week.  :-D

Also, if you have been looking for your special custom pet portrait, whether it's of your dog, cat, horse, or other pet, you can contact me at www.carolerodrigue.com and use the Contact sheet.  There is also a page for commission info listing all the prices.  Please don't hesitate to contact me for your pet portrait painted in oil or pastel.

Luna, Belgian Malinois Portrait Painted in Oil

Luna, Belgian Malinois Portrait
11 x 14 Oil on Canvas
Carole Rodrigue ©2017
SOLD

Everyone, this is Luna, a gorgeous Malinois with such beautiful haunting eyes that I wanted to paint her so that the eyes were the focus.  For this reason I used a dark background.  All of the comments I've received about this painting have been about the eyes, so mission accomplished!

Luna is the second Belgian Malinois painting I've recently completed and I am now working on another Malinois commission, this time with THREE dogs!  I'm really humbled and honoured that people are liking my Malinois paintings and I'm fortunate to be getting these requests by Malinois owners.  It is such a joy to paint these dogs and I look forward to painting many, many more!

Stay tuned for another Belgian Malinois portrait coming soon!
