Bag of Lemons Daily Painting Still Life

Bag of Lemons
8 x 10 Oil
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

For today's daily painting, I was in the mood for cheery, yellow lemons.  This is of course painted alla prima, and I find yellow paint tricky when painting alla prima.  I'm quite satisfied with how this finally turned out and I love the mood in this piece.  I hope you like it too.  It's now up on eBay.

Bosc Pears Alla Prima Oil Still Life

Bosc Pears No. 3
8 x 10 Oil, alla prima
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

I'm working on a larger commission this week, a 36 x 36 oil still life of one single bosc pear.  I'm still working on it but while waiting for paint to dry today, I thought I'd do a little 8 x 10 of some of the pears I have. I just love doing these bosc pears, and I'm thinking of experimenting with some gold leafing with these soon.  After this commission I'll give it a try and see how it goes, but I have some wonderful ideas for adding gold leaf to these.

I hope you like this one.  It is now up on eBay.  Have a great weekend!

Figs, Daily Still Life

Figs
8 x 10 Oil

Though I'd wanted to, I had never painted figs until today.  Every time I wanted to get some to paint, the stores never had any.  For some reason, they're hard to come by around here. I found one box at a store on Saturday, but they weren't too healthy looking. I gave up again.  Then, as luck would have it, I found a box full of beautiful, perfect figs in another store so I scooped them up! So there you have it, figs.  I've been eating a lot of figs this week, with a little honey.  They are so good.  This one is now up on eBay.

Bosc Pears No. 2

Bosc Pears No. 2
8 x 10 Oil on linen

I decided to take a break from daily paintings today so I could paint myself a little something for my dining room.  After I completed yesterday's Bosc pear, I started this one last night and completed it today.  It's painted on linen and will look absolutely fabulous in one of my frames.  I can't wait to hang it! Needless to say it isn't for sale.  I hope everyone has a great weekend, and happy Canada Day weekend to everyone here at home!

Bosc Pear Daily Painting

Pear No. 4
6 x 6 Oil

There's something about painting Bosc pears that I just love, almost as much as I love painting apples.  The way they glow their golden splendour against a dark background gives them a classical feel that I absolutely love.  I love the feel of them so much that I'm starting to paint one just for myself.  I really must have one in my dining room.  This one, however, is up for auction on eBay in case you would like one also.  Bids start at only $25.00.

Bosc Pears, Daily Painting

Bosc Pears
8 x 10 Oil

These gorgeous Bosc pears were sitting around the house and became today's subject.  I love painting pears in the classical style.  To me, there's something that creates such an atmosphere in pears painted this way.  I guess that's why I do still life also.  There's always the opportunity to take mundane, ordinary objects and express their beauty through paint by focusing on the intensity of the colors, as well as the lighting.  Such strong contrasts create drama and atmosphere, bringing out the beauty in something so simple as fruit.

I hope you like this one! It's up for auction and the link is above underneath the photo.  I'll be back tomorrow, and thanks for stopping by.  <3

Red Pear & Bottle Daily Painting

Red Pear & Bottle
5 x 7 Oil on hardboard

Hi friends, this painting is now up for auction on eBay.  It was painted spontaneously last night. Really! I had NO plans on painting last night but I had purchased these beautiful red pears and was just playing around with different set ups, trying to decide on something that I was going to paint today.  A little while later, I stopped, and said, "Wow!"  I had completed a painting! I had to laugh at myself since these things don't often happen and usually require more planning.  It's a truly great thing though to get caught in the flow like that, and indescribable.  There's a sense of something almost greater than yourself, some vibrant energy that takes the lead and enables you to create without thought or judgment.  It's just, getting caught in the flow! That's the best way to describe it.  Oh, and I really, really love being in the flow.  :-D

I hope you like this one.  If you do, you can click here to bid on eBay.

Here is a little 8 x 10 I painted Saturday, the same day I painted Pear No. 2.  I think this is the first time I have ever painted two whole pieces in one day! Both were alla prima, painted in a classical style.  This one is also available on eBay auction style.  Click here if interested.  Thanks for stopping by! :-)

P.S.  I have started working on a much larger 20 x 30 piece that I'm am super excited about! I'll be posting work in progress shots on my Facebook page.  Enjoy!
