Pomegranate & Copper Alla Prima

Pomegranate & Copper
8 x 6 Oil
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

It dawned on me today how quickly this year is coming to a close.  I'm not sure how many more paintings I will be able to create in 2014 but I'm hoping to do several more in the next couple of weeks.  This one was painted today, alla prima, and I found the pomegranate to be one of the prettiest I've seen in a while.  The red was vibrant and the whole fruit just perfect.  It's now up on eBay.

Tangerine Alla Prima Still Life with Video Demonstration

Tangerine
6 x 6 Oil
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

Today was a productive day.  The dog had her walk and I painted this little tangerine, AND made a little video demonstration using still photos.  My camera doesn't record, so I'm stuck for now.  :-s

This painting is now up for bids on eBay and you can also view the video on YouTube by clicking the embedded video below.

Indian Teapot with Fruit Daily Painting

Teapot with Fruit
8 x 10 Oil
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

I painted this little gem today with the low light coming in from the window.  I felt this light was the best choice due to the teapot.  It's handmade in India, dented and crooked, and has a very low sheen.  I'm not sure what it's made of but it's not shiny like a polished silver.  I kept all of the lighting throughout the objects very low and soft to complement the pot.  The bosc pears and apple made an appearance again.  What it is that I love to paint about these fruits so much? I really have no idea.  I just love painting these.  The bosc pears are my favourite to paint in all the pear varieties.  It must be the varying colours that come with them, from tinges of green at times, to deep golds and browns.  They're just as delicious to paint as they are to eat.

This is now up on eBay for a very low starting bid.  Have a great night!

Pears, Alla Prima Daily Still Life Painting

Pears
8 x 10 Oil alla prima
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

Hello everyone, I was in the mood for painting pears lately so today was the day.  I was originally going to paint only the red pears, but decided to mix it up a little, and I'm very pleased with the way this turned out.  I need to paint some more pears for a charity fundraiser next month.  Pears are always such a pleasure to paint.  If you like this one, it is now up for auction on eBay with a low bid of $49.99. Thanks for looking!

Copper, Tomatoes, & Onion Oil Still Life

Copper, Tomatoes, & Onion
8 x 10 Oil
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

Despite having company for the week, I did manage to get this one done this afternoon during a short break.  The vine was full of tomatoes earlier this week but has dwindled down to the last two, so I tossed in an onion and my trusted old copper pot.  This had been a find at a second hand store several years back when I was looking for just such little old treasures.  I'm glad I found it since it's a favourite in many of my works.  I hope you enjoy this one, and if you do there are also other close up shots on eBay for you to enjoy.  Have a great night!

Egg & Eggshells Daily Painting

Egg & Eggshells
5 x 7 Oil
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

I was in the mood for eggs today.  Painting eggs are always a great exercise, as I've said before, so I often like to get back to them.  The past week has been crazy so I haven't had much time to spend on daily paintings, and it seems like I won't get a chance tomorrow either since I'll be at Artists on Elgin for part of the day, and then a private function at Open Studio where our show, The Grand Art Show, is being held.  It promises to be a fantastic evening so I'm really looking forward to it!

The La Cloche show is also around the corner, so I'm also crazy busy getting ready for that.  I still have one painting that needs finishing touches, so tonight's the night.  I might be up late, but that's the life, the artist's life.  I had started working on a magpie painting months ago and it's getting completed tonight no matter what!  I'm looking forward to sharing it too.

Egg & Eggshells is up for bids on eBay and you can have a look at it at the above link.  Thanks for stopping by, and I'll be back!

Carole Rodrigue 2014

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I had a great one, and I managed to squeeze in this little treasure late last night.  It's now up on eBay for auction, so you can click on the above link if you're interested.

Also, I entered Cup of Earl III in the BoldBrush Competition and I would really appreciate if you could go over there and click "like" for my painting.  You must be logged in to Facebook for the like to count.  I appreciate everyone's support, and I'll be back with a new painting tomorrow! Have a great day! <3

Pear, Daily Oil Painting

Pear No 3
6 x 6 Oil
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

Today I was compelled to paint a pear, backlit by window light.  I love painting backlit scenes.  It's something I've always done, even back when I was painting horses regularly.  There's something about backlighting that is dramatic and captivating.  I hope you enjoy this one, if you do, the link for the eBay auction is in the painting's description.  Have a great evening!  <3

Royal Albert & Roses Daily Painting

Royal Albert & Roses
6 x 6 Oil
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

I'm almost ready for the Grand Show in a couple of weeks so the daily paintings are starting again.  These roses are from a miniature plant I bought the other week.  I still haven't had time to plant it, but it's still producing quite the beautiful fragrant blooms. Of course they had to go in the Royal Albert Old Country Rose cup!

You may click here to bid on eBay.  Thanks for looking!

Teacup & Yellow Pansy Daily Painting

Teacup & Yellow Pansy
6 x 6 Oil
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

Today's daily painting, a teacup with a pretty yellow pansy.  I'm really getting into these teacups and I'm thinking of doing one per week.  I don't think I'll buy one for each week, but perhaps borrow one here and there.  I hope you enjoy this one.  If you do, you can click on the above link to bid on eBay.  There are also close-up shots on eBay.  Now, I'm off to drink a nice cup of Earl Grey from this cup.  Have a great evening!

Onions & Mortar Daily Painting

Onions & Mortar
8 x 10 Oil
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

Today's daily had to be onions.  I have never painted a red onion before, but I was compelled to capture the red tones in this today.  I think red onions might compete with apples for a favoured subject matter.  ;-)

Now I'm off to working on my giant piece again.  The clock is winding down and I really need to get this done by this weekend.  If you like Onions & Mortar, you can click here to bid on eBay. Thanks, and have a great day!

Daily Painting with Golf Ball, Iron, and Tee

Golfing
10 x 8 Oil
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

Okay, I'm not a sports type of person, but I had so much fun painting this one today and love how it turned out! The photo doesn't do it justice.  The photo uploader in Blogger always changes the appearance and colors for some reason.  All the same, this is a great little painting and would make a great gift for the golfer in your life or even for Father's Day! If you like this one, you can click here to bid.  Have a great day!

Cocoa Pup Chocolate Dog Daily Painting

Cocoa Pup Learns
6 x 6 Oil on canvas panel
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

Today's painting is of Cocoa Pup.  You might remember that I painted this little chocolate dude last fall.  I will eventually have him doing all sorts of things, and create different fun and interesting paintings with Cocoa Pup.  He is just so much fun to paint! The possibilities are endless.  I just hope he lasts as long as my ideas keep coming.  If you like him, you can click here to bid on eBay.  Thanks for stopping by!

Apples & Teapot, Today's Painting a Day

Apples & Teapot
8 x 10 Oil
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

Here is today's painting.  This one took all day, up until just before 9:00 tonight.  A lot of hours have gone into this one in order to achieve the effect I was looking for.  Alla Prima painting doesn't have to leave heavy brush marks.  One can achieve a level of realism with a little added work. Not that I mind visible brush marks; I am a fan of brushwork and do like them. I do, however, love realism and blended finishes.  That's why I do what I do!  I'm very satisfied with how this turned out, and it was worth the work! I hope you like it too. If you do, you can click here to bid on eBay.  Thanks for looking!

P.S.  Did you know that I usually post a couple of close up detail shots on eBay?

I had absolutely no idea what to paint today, and finally got started on this little treasure at 2:30 this afternoon.  It flowed off the brush! If you like this one, you can click here to bid on eBay.

Silver & Fruit II Daily Oil Painting

Silver & Fruit II
8 x 10 Oil on hardboard
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

After having painted Silver & Fruit last week, I enjoyed the piece so much that I decided to paint a complementary painting but with  a different piece of silver and a pear instead of an orange.  Red pears are such a luscious deep shade of red, and oh so fun to paint! I've been deliberately neglecting shining my silver too, I must admit.  There's something about those dark shades and other colors that show through tarnished silver that make them so appealing in art.  I suppose I will have to shine everything soon, but for now I'm enjoying painting these tarnished pieces.  If you would like to bid on this one, you may click here.  Thanks for looking!

Apple No.3 Daily Painting

Apple No. 3

Silver & Fruit Painting a Day

Silver & Fruit
8 x 10 Oil on hardboard
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

Every once in a while, there is a painting that one creates that one would like to hold on to.  This is one of them.  However, I have put it up for auction on eBay.  My intentions were to paint it for auction, so that's what I'm doing, even though my dining room is in severe need of artwork! But hey, maybe this one would look better in your dining room.  If you think so, you can click here to bid on eBay.  Thanks for having a look!

Tomato & Copper Daily Painting

Tomato & Copper
5 x 7 Oil on hardboard
Carole Rodrigue ©2014

I have done something absolutely crazy! This painting is listed for an opening bid of only $0.01.  Yes, a penny! Has she lost her mind, you ask? Hey, maybe I have, but I thought I'd give this a try.  If you want to place a bid, click here.  Thanks for looking!
