More Lemons . . .

Lemons
8 x 10 Oil
Carole Rodrigue ©2015
SOLD

Yes, this one is sold.  I have a deep passion for painting lemons, did I ever say that? I do.  Each time I paint them I learn something new too, which compels me to paint more.  In fact, I did paint more today.  I have so many lemons in the house.  I might bake a lemon cake, with lemon icing.  Yum.

I'll be back tomorrow to share the other lemon painting.  Thanks for stopping by.  :-D

Bag of Plums
5 x 7 Oil on gessoed hard board
Carole Rodrigue copyright 2013

Since I have so many plums, plums it is!  I'm having so much fun with these fruit in a bag that I'm also considering pears and peaches.  The apple one also has inspired me to paint a larger one which is similiar, but not the same and will have some variation and added fruit.  Stay tuned!  Did you know that you can collect these little gems for an extremely low price? Collecting original art has never been so affordable. You can bid for this one on eBay by clicking here.

Campbell's Tomato Soup Daily Painting

Campbell's Tomato Soup
5 x 7 Oil on masonite
Carole Rodrigue  Copyright 2013

Here's today's painting a day.  This was not what I had planned on painting today but I saw this morning that it was Andy Warhol's birthday today, so there was a change of plans.  How lucky was I to have a can of tomato soup in my cupboard! I don't even eat tomato soup . . .

I could have kept on working on this piece but since it's a daily painting, the point is to get as much done in as little time as possible.  So there it is, and you can bid on this painting by clicking here.

Cracked Eggshells Daily Painting

Cracked Eggshells
5 x 7 oil on masonite
Carole Rodrigue Copyright 2013

Here is today's daily painting up for auction on eBay. This one was a challenge.  Although eggs might look easy, they are far from being so.  There's a lot involved in painting a good egg: various colours, lighting and reflected light, shadows, values . . . To not pay attention to all of these would produce a bad egg.  I don't like bad eggs, so I took my  time.  I'm quite satisfied with the results and I hope you are too.  If you're interested in placing a bid, click here

Bottles

Bottles
16 x 20 original oil

Bottles is completed and another painting has also been completed as well.  This photo is not clear.  I really need to get some quality photographs done with my good camera and update my site.  I had taken some the other day, outside, but once I looked at them on the computer, there was too much glare even though taken in the shade.  I'm hoping to be able to take good shots tomorrow.  Thanks for looking, and the new painting follows.  Hope you enjoy them!

P.S.  The Sudbury Art Club's Spring Show is next weekend at the CNIB Hall at the corner of Regent and York in Sudbury.  There will be a wine and cheese on Friday night and it's free for anyone to attend.  Please do come pay us a visit, enjoy a glass of wine, look at wonderful art, and meet great artists!  It starts Friday at 7:00, then runs Sat. and Sunday from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm on Sunday.  I will post the official poster invite tomorrow.

Done!

Pearls of Wisdom
16 x 20 original oil on canvas
Copyright Carole Rodrigue 2012

Here is the final painting.  The photo was taken with my phone, so there is a glare as well as the colors are a little off in the background.  I'm definitely going to need a good photo for my website.  Painting this piece was exciting.  There was the challenge of painting gold, copper, and pearls in one piece, and I so much enjoy painting these different elements!  I must say that this is one piece that I enjoyed painting from beginning to end.  And no sooner was I done painting this one, and another canvas was on the easel and an hour later there was a fresh new layer of underpainting done on a new piece. The next one is a landscape, a winter scene that will be somewhat abstract in its composition, although still a realism piece.

I'm on a roll now folks, and I expect to be showing many more pieces regularly, so keep visiting!  And thanks again for having a look.  I do hope you enjoy this one.

Back To The Grind

Detail photo of work in progress
Pearls of Wisdom
20 x 16 original oil
Copyright Carole Rodrigue 2012

It's back to the grind folks!  Here is a detail shot of a painting I'm working on. It is an oil, and I'm almost done working on the copper statue.  I might be tweaking the background color as well.  I'm not certain yet if I'm satisfied with it, but I will be posting my progress with this painting.

As you've just read, this piece is in oil, and most of my pieces from now on will be in oils.  Acrylics served me very well for a time, but oils are what I began painting with when I was a teenager, and the pull of its richness, workability, and yes, smells, were too strong to resist.  I'm having so much fun playing with my oils again, and I haven't felt this way about painting for a while.  Time for progress and embracing changes . . .

Since I haven't posted since last year, please allow me this opportunity to also wish everyone a wonderful new year.  I am so happy to finally leave the last one behind and am looking forward to nothing but amazing things in the year to come.  I hope the same for all of you as well!

Thanks for dropping in and looking.  A follow up will be coming in the next few days.

Sold

Hello everyone, here are a couple of smaller pieces I recently completed, 2 pears in oils on masonite.  These are already sold, but I will create more of these little treasures in the near future.  For now, I've got a few commissions on the go which are keeping me busy, as well as a still life that I've been working on. The still life has copper and pearls, two of my favorite things to paint. I'm looking forward to completing all of these paintings and sharing them with you. I'm excited about each of them, so keep checking!  Thanks for dropping in.
